Khai Diep has no feelings. Well, he feels irritation when people move his things or contentment when ledgers balance down to the penny, but not big, important emotions—like grief. And love. He thinks he’s defective. His family knows better—that his autism means he just processes emotions differently. When he steadfastly avoids relationships, his mother takes matters into her own hands and returns to Vietnam to find him the perfect bride.

As a mixed-race girl living in the slums of Ho Chi Minh City, Esme Tran has always felt out of place. When the opportunity arises to come to America and meet a potential husband, she can’t turn it down, thinking this could be the break her family needs. Seducing Khai, however, doesn’t go as planned. Esme’s lessons in love seem to be working…but only on herself. She’s hopelessly smitten with a man who’s convinced he can never return her affection.

With Esme’s time in the United States dwindling, Khai is forced to understand he’s been wrong all along. And there’s more than one way to love.

This is the cutest damn thing I’ve read since the kiss quotient.  I knew some of what it was about going in, but I have heard so many say they didn’t love it as much as the kiss quotient and honestly like how????

Your Mc is Esme and she works in a hotel in Vietnam. When an older woman walks in a starts asking her questions about her life and gives her a opportunity. Esme comes to California with her to seduce her son Khai and marry him.

Khai is autistic and doesn’t believe that he can feel. When his mother brings in Esme she upends everything around him. He has routine, order, a space where he can be by himself and be himself. She comes in like a wrecking ball cleaning his home and doing landscaping. At first he’s just annoyed but as time goes by he realizes he misses her when she’s gone. Can he feel after all? Can he love?

Y’all I listened to this audiobook in one setting and I have no regrets at all. This is so damn swoon worthy and cute. I found myself giggling so many times. Khai and Esme are so adorable and cute, I couldn’t help but root for them. Helen is one of my favorite authors now and will be a auto buy for me from now on.

Her writing style and the way she can tell a story is just…wow. I also have had this book for a few months and don’t know why I put off reading it for so long.

I really do hope you pick this one up if you haven’t already because it is so swoon worthy and damn adorable. I will give warning though to anyone who doesn’t like to read sex scenes I would skip this one as it does go into graphic detail.

Courtney 💛
