Lilah isn’t sure what hurt worse: the day Ethan left her to focus on his hockey career, or the day he came back eight years later. He might think they can pick up just where they left off, but she’s no longer that same girl and never wants to be again.
Ethan Kane wants his glory days back. And that includes having Lilah by his side. With her, he was magic. They were magic. All he has to do is make her see that.
Just when Lilah might finally be ready to let him in, though, she finds out their reunion has nothing to do with her and everything to do with his game. But Ethan’s already lost her once, and even if it costs him his career, he’ll do anything to keep from losing her again.
This book combined two of my favorite types of romance: sports and second chance. So, unsurprisingly, I really enjoyed this one. This was my second Hunting book. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Meet Cute, but I’m so glad I decided to give her a second shot because I adored Ethan and Lilah’s story.
Ethan and Lilah have their ups and downs, but this story doesn’t go overboard with conflict and drama. In fact, the conflict felt very appropriate and purposeful. I was so proud of Lilah for putting herself first and not letting Ethan’s needs eclipse her own. I loved watching these two grow back together as Lilah opened her heart back up and let herself trust Ethan again.
Overall, this was a quick read, lots of fun, and super sexy. I’ll definitely be reading more Helena Hunting now!
