Arden sells memories. Whether it’s the becoming homecoming queen or studying for that all important test, Arden can hack into a classmate’s memories and upload the experience for you just as if you’d lived it yourself. Business is great, right up until the day Arden whites out, losing 15 minutes of her life and all her memories of the hot boy across the school yard. The hot boy her friends assure her she’s had a crush on for years.
Arden realizes that her own memories have been hacked, but they haven’t just been stolen and shared… they’ve been deleted. And she’s not the only one, the hot stranger, Sebastian, has lost ALL of his memories. But how can they find someone with the power to make them forget everything they’ve learned?
The premise of mind games sounded so interesting to me that I just had to pick it up. I mean the premise is someone messing around inside your head erasing your memories. What’s not to love?
Your MC is Arden she is the daughter of the CEO who has created the hivemind. Hivemind is a system that stores all your memories, basically you never forget anything. You can log in to hive mind at any point and relive whatever memory you want too.
Arden is a intelligent hacker so when she meets a boy that morning and has no recollection of who he is, she starts digging she has lost over 7,000 memories and he has lost all of his completely. He has no idea who he is or who Arden is. The race is on to find out if the memories disappearing is a glitch in hivemind or if someone is erasing them.
The writing in this book is good and could have been better, but the story had me so hooked that I wanted to know more. I couldn’t stop reading, I was so fascinated by the hivemind and how everything in this world worked. How Arden was tracking the person even though her memories where being erased.
This book also had another aspect in it I loved and it deals with the second half so I won’t give anything away. Essentially it was around whether or not we play god. When you read it you’ll get it. I just don’t wanna spoil it.
I can’t really go into super detail without giving everything away. I really don’t think I’m doing this book justice, but it’s so good. I never saw the ending or the real reason for the memories disappearing coming. I thought I had it about half way through, but god was I wrong.
Overall I loved this book and I honestly didn’t expect too. Arden is a fantastic character with so much growth and things just coming at her right and left yet she still fights back.
I highly recommend this book. I absolutely loved it and I hope you do too.
