September Wrap – Up

This month I had a goal of reading 16 books. While I didn’t quite make that goal I did read quite a few good books this month. I read 4 and dnf’d 3 books this month. I didn’t quite meet my 16 goal, but the 4 I did read where so fantastic and are now some of my favorites.

I had four five star reads this month and honestly I’m living for all of them.

1. The Kiss Quotient by Helena Hoang

The Kiss Quotient was such an amazing and cute novel about a woman with Aspergers that has been successful in every aspect of her life expect sex, so she hires a escort to help her practice to get better. Y’all this book was so amazing, the steamy scenes were so damn good. This is full of love, heartache, and steamy sex. You wont be disappointed.

2. All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin.

Trigger warnings for this one with rape and other explicit content. You can check out my trigger warning page for a full list. This one hit heavy topics, but it did it so well. I’ve never read an Emily Giffin book before this one, but I have to say I will be look for the rest of her books now. She has such a unique way of writing and has me wanting more.

3. Blanca & Roja by Anna Marie McClemore

I had the privilege of buddy reading this one with @Melanie. This one was so amazing. I loved Wild beauty and this one had the same magic and beauty. You couldn’t help but get sucked into the book wanting more from her. If you have loved any of McClemore’s books before I highly recommend this one. This one was about sisterhood and sacrifice.

4. Sadie by Courtney Summers

Sadie was my 4th five star read for September and it didn’t disappoint either. I was left with a bunch of questions at the end, but the journey there was amazing, The Podcast and the way it flipped back and forth between West McCray and Sadie was amazing. I couldn’t help but fall in love with Sadie and want the best for her. By the end I was rooting right along side her wanting to kill a man.

DNFs

  1. Two Little Girls by Mary Higgins Clark

I made it about 10% in and I just couldn’t get into it. I want to try and pick it up again at another time and see if I can finish it.

2. Not that I could tell

I just, god this one was so bad, I made it 27% in and I hated it. I found myself bored with no thrill, no mystery, nothing, I’m not sure whether or not ill try to pick this one up again or not.

3. The Seven and a Half Death of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

This one had so much potential for a great story but it just fell flat for me. I’m not sure if I just didn’t make through enough of the book to get to the good part or not. I’m going to get the audiobook this next month and try it again.

So… I didn’t make it to my goal, but it was made up for by 4 great books. October I plan on trying to read 8. I have 3 Buddy Reads this next month, I’m so excited. Hopefully I can meet my goal, but any reading is better than none.

  1. I think you’re the first person I’ve heard say they didn’t like Evelyn Hardcastle! Sorry it fell flat for you. It’s definitely a weird book, so I could see why it might not connect with everyone. I thought it was super fun, though.
