Top 5 Books I’ll Never Read

I am a bookworm at heart, but there are some books I just can’t get into too. I have close to 400 books on my shelves and over 3,000 ebooks on my hard drive and kindle. I will never get to read all of them and some I just won’t like to read anyway. I’m not going to include series in this because I would be here forever. Let’s get into it.

  1. The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood

This one I’ve seen trailers for on Hulu and youtube and its cringe-worthy. It may honestly be good, but the sexual assault is a trigger for me and I’m not watching it or reading the book. I figured it if its one of them, its probably in the other.

2. Into the Water by Paula Hawkins

Okay, I did give this one a try before dnfing, but it was just so boring and the way it flipped back and forth I was so confused as to who was who and what was happening. I found myself starting chapters over to try and figure out what had happened. I did keep a copy of this book on my shelf, but I’m not sure if I’ll pick it up again or not.

3. Vicious by V.E. Schwab

Now I love V.E. Schwab, her Monsters series is one of my absolute favorites. I just couldn’t get into this one. I read about 1/4 through and I found my self-nodding off, I had to put it down. I love Victoria and quite a few of you brag about this series, I’m just not a fan.

4. Carry on by Rainbow Rowell

I really haven’t found a Rowell book I can get into yet. I’ve tried fangirl, Landline and now Carry on and nothing. I don’t know if its the writing style or what I just don’t seem to get into her books. If you get into them, I applaud you and please tell me which is your favorites.

5. City of Saints & Thieves by Natalie C. Anderson

From the synopsis alone this one I just don’t plan on reading it. It doesn’t sound like something I will enjoy. Over the past year, my reading taste have changed a bunch and this one just got pushed to the side and I don’t plan on picking it up.

If you love these books please do not get offended because I don’t. Also, don’t choose not to read them just because I didn’t enjoy them. Pick these books up and give them a shot and see what you think of them. Everyone’s reading taste is different and you may enjoy them.

  1. “The Handmaid’s Tale” is one of my favorite books ever! Everyone has different tastes though. I don’t remember any sexual assault happening in the book per se. It is more that the society has been structured in a particular way. You would have to read the book to fully understand, but it doesn’t really have sexual assault as we would normally define it, within it. Though it definitely could trigger aspects of that for someone. I don’t know any of the others on your list though. Interesting to see this list!

    1. That’s mainly my only reason for not reading it. I’ve seen clips of the show that are pretty triggering for me so I’ve stayed away from the book. It’s good to know there’s no actual scenes with it in there. I might possibly pick it up and see.
