I am a bookworm at heart, but there are some books I just can’t get into too. I have close to 400 books on my shelves and over 3,000 ebooks on my hard drive and kindle. I will never get to read all of them and some I just won’t like to read anyway. I’m not going to include series in this because I would be here forever. Let’s get into it.
- The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood
This one I’ve seen trailers for on Hulu and youtube and its cringe-worthy. It may honestly be good, but the sexual assault is a trigger for me and I’m not watching it or reading the book. I figured it if its one of them, its probably in the other.
2. Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
Okay, I did give this one a try before dnfing, but it was just so boring and the way it flipped back and forth I was so confused as to who was who and what was happening. I found myself starting chapters over to try and figure out what had happened. I did keep a copy of this book on my shelf, but I’m not sure if I’ll pick it up again or not.
3. Vicious by V.E. Schwab
Now I love V.E. Schwab, her Monsters series is one of my absolute favorites. I just couldn’t get into this one. I read about 1/4 through and I found my self-nodding off, I had to put it down. I love Victoria and quite a few of you brag about this series, I’m just not a fan.
4. Carry on by Rainbow Rowell
I really haven’t found a Rowell book I can get into yet. I’ve tried fangirl, Landline and now Carry on and nothing. I don’t know if its the writing style or what I just don’t seem to get into her books. If you get into them, I applaud you and please tell me which is your favorites.
5. City of Saints & Thieves by Natalie C. Anderson
From the synopsis alone this one I just don’t plan on reading it. It doesn’t sound like something I will enjoy. Over the past year, my reading taste have changed a bunch and this one just got pushed to the side and I don’t plan on picking it up.
If you love these books please do not get offended because I don’t. Also, don’t choose not to read them just because I didn’t enjoy them. Pick these books up and give them a shot and see what you think of them. Everyone’s reading taste is different and you may enjoy them.
