Top 13 books of 2017

This year I read 70 books and I have so many favorites, but I have narrowed it down to 13. I have had such a great reading year this year and I’m hoping next year I can up my goal to 100 books. I can’t wait to see what stories I get to read in 2018, with that let’s get into it. I haven’t placed these in any specific order, it was so difficult to keep it under 20 books.

Queens of geek was such an amazing book. I loved Jen Wilde’s writing and the way she kept the story together going back and forth between two viewpoints. It has an amazing Anxiety, Bi, and autism spectrum rep. It was such a cute and fluffy read that was so easy to read in one sitting. I absolutely loved the story and all of the rep.

There’s not really much a can say about this short graphic novel without giving it away. it was such a heart-wrenching book with all the feels and shows that you need to face your truth and deal with issues head-on.  I loved Patrick Ness’s writing and the way he told the story. It was such an interesting and heartfelt read.

This was one of my favorites just because I related to the MC so much with the anxiety rep. The color project is so amazing and a fun read for any age. I loved sierra’s writing and overall way she paced the story. It also dealt with certain issues that meant something to me when I was dating, like waiting until marriage to have sex. It dealt with such amazing situations and it is definitely one of my favorites.

This book… this book is my second favorite book of this year. It is just, aghhhh the feels. It is a bit confusing in the beginning, but if you keep reading and make it to the end it all comes together and makes for a wonderful and beautiful book. I fell in love with Anna’s writing and have now begun looking for the rest of her books.

I loved this series so much, it was so good! In Elly Blakes world she has created you get so immersed in her writing and can’t help but want to know more. You are immersed in a world where you are either of fire or ice, it is an absolutely amazing premise. This is my second favorite series of this year and I can’t wait to see where she takes it in the third upcoming novel.

I have never read a Tahereh Mafi book before and this one has me wanting to read everything she has ever written. It was so magical and just all around an amazing novel that shows what true friendship can do for you and others.

This is my number one series this year. I love Victoria and the way she can tear your heart out and leave you wanting more from the story. You see a world that is full of humans and monsters, everytime a horrible act is done Murder, Shooting, assault, etc. a monster is born from that act. I have never read anything in my life like this series and it is one of my all-time favorites.

They both die at the end is my number one book of 2017. I loved this book so much and it was such a heart-wrenching read. Adam Silvera knows how to rip your heart out and make you ugly cry. The Premise is so interesting you can’t help but want to read it. You live in a world where you can get a call any morning and it is your death day. Anytime in the next 24hrs, you could die. The title does give it away, but I think its the journey there that is important.

Towards the end of this year, I have been getting into way more Mystery/Thriller books. this one was easy to figure out what happened, but it was still a fun book to read and I loved it. I would say it is a cross between Pretty Little Liars and The Breakfast Club. I found myself attached to each character hoping they didn’t do it. Highly recommend if you love mystery type books.

Turtles all the way down was a must read for me when I heard it has OCD. It represented OCD very well with all of the thoughts and behaviors. John Green did an amazing job with this book, I did have a few issues with the way he told the story, but I all around loved the characters and story.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on an arc of this book in October and I can’t wait to get my hands on a finished copy. I usually don’t get into Sci-fi books, but this one was just amazing to read. It’s about space pirates like come on, if that doesn’t make you want to read it I don’t know what will. The ending was not at all what I expected and I can’t wait to see where Sasha and Lindsay take the second book.

Holly chase will be a Christmas read every year from now on. This is such an astounding novel and I loved every minute of it. It is a book that takes on the classic novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I don’t have any Christmasy type books, so this was a first for me and I love it.

I loved the daughter of the burning so much I hope it gets turned into a movie. Amanda Foody created such a magical world in the daughter of the burning city. I loved how creative it was and always had you guessing after every chapter. I can’t wait to see what she has created in Ace of Shades. She is definitely one of my favorite authors.

These are my favorite books of 2017. Do you see any of your favorites up here? Let’s chat in the comments!
