One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
Pay close attention and you might solve this.
On Monday afternoon, five students at Bayview High walk into detention.
Bronwyn, the brain, is Yale-bound and never breaks a rule.
Addy, the beauty, is the picture-perfect homecoming princess.
Nate, the criminal, is already on probation for dealing.
Cooper, the athlete, is the all-star baseball pitcher.
And Simon, the outcast, is the creator of Bayview High’s notorious gossip app.
Only, Simon never makes it out of that classroom. Before the end of detention Simon’s dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn’t an accident. On Monday, he died. But on Tuesday, he’d planned to post juicy reveals about all four of his high-profile classmates, which makes all four of them the suspects in his murder. Or are they the perfect patsies for a killer who’s still on the loose?

I have heard quite a few mixed reviews on this, but I enjoyed the book. I had an inclination of what was happening about halfway through and started to put the pieces together before the characters did. I guess years of watching pretty little liars helped, hahaha. Speaking of, this novel actually reminds me of pretty little liars meets breakfast club type of feel to it.

You have your 5 Mcs who one of them dies while in detention with the other four. Then the other four are accused of murdering him. The police question the other four, all while trying to find out what happened to Simon. You see Simon had an App call About that. He developed it and basically turned it into a Gossip website for all of the school. Posting things about everyone, which for the most part was true.

I enjoyed the mystery of the story and getting to know all the characters. This book is full of a few high school cliches, but for the most part, it is an enjoyable read. I finished it in two days because I mainly wanted to know if I was right or not, lol.

One of us is lying focuses on the four main characters and their lives falling apart. You also get a glimpse into Simons life and what he felt. I know a few reviewers were angry at the mental health rep, but these things actually do happen. If you haven’t read the book, once you do you will know what I’m talking about.

I hope you do pick this novel up. I can’t wait to see what you all think of it. If you have read it what did you think?
